Your Role as an Early Childhood Worker

As an Early Childhood Worker at the Mareeba Children and Family Center, you will play a vital role in delivering culturally sensitive and child-centered programs that promote the holistic development of young children. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, you will help create a stimulating and safe environment where children can explore, learn, and grow.

Your responsibilities will include providing engaging play-based activities, supporting child development through screenings and individualized plans, and building strong relationships with families and community members. You will be instrumental in fostering a love for learning and promoting the value of play in early childhood.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking passionate and dedicated individuals who are ready to make a significant impact in the lives of children and families.

  • Minimum Certificate III in Early Childhood.
  • Experience in delivering early childhood support programs and working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Current Blue Card. 
  • Current QLD Driver's License. 
  • Strong understanding of early childhood development and a commitment to culturally sensitive practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.

Selection Criteria

SC 1        Demonstrated experience working in an interagency environment and demonstrated ability to develop and foster relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders including community groups, government, and non-profit service providers.

SC 2        Experience working with Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander children, families, and communities.

SC 3        Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) to work in a multi-disciplinary team structure, including the ability to organize and coordinate group activities.  

SC 4        Knowledge of, or ability to acquire, human resource management issues including Workplace Health and Safety, Equal Employment Opportunity and Antidiscrimination.

SC 5        Knowledge and understanding of integrated service delivery to enhance the health, education and wellbeing of children and their families.

SC6         Demonstrated experience in the delivery of early childhood services and programs to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.
