Our integrated service model encompasses Health Services, Social Services, and Corporate Services, all working cohesively to address the needs of the Mareeba Shire community.

Position Overview

The Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health Worker – Sexual Health position is integral to our health services team. Your primary responsibility will be to provide high-quality, culturally appropriate health services that align with community needs and establish positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.

In this role, you will engage in health care case management, work closely with community members, and collaborate with Health Promotion Partners on critical public health initiatives such as testing and treatment for Syphilis and other sexually transmitted infections.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a passionate and skilled individual who is committed to improving health outcomes within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

  • Certificate III or IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice) or working towards.
  • Experience in health promotion, including the testing and treatment of blood-borne viruses and sexually transmitted infections.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster relationships and collaborate with community members and stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, along with the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. A commitment to ongoing professional development and quality improvement is essential.
