Position Overview
The Health Promotions Program Officer will be an integral part of our Health Promotions Team, responsible for the implementation and delivery of health promotion programs across the Tablelands region, including areas such as Mareeba, Atherton, and Kuranda. This role involves coordinating health education initiatives, promoting healthy lifestyle choices, and collaborating with local stakeholders to enhance the overall health of our communities.
In this position, you will work under the guidance of the Health Promotion Team Leader while maintaining effective communication with various teams within Mulungu to ensure a cohesive approach to health promotion.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in health promotion, community engagement, and a deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. You should be an effective communicator and a proactive team player with a demonstrated commitment to improving community health outcomes.
- Qualifications of Certificate III or IV in Fitness or similar relevant fields.
- Experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and inspire diverse community members.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Current Working with Children Blue Card & National Police Check completed in the last six months.
Additionally, candidates should exhibit strong organizational skills, a passion for health promotion, and a willingness to travel across regions as required.
Selection Criteria
SC 1 Qualifications of Certificate III or IV in Fitness or Certificate III or IV in Primary Health Care or willingness to undertake relevant VET training.
SC 2 Demonstrated ability to Engage with community members to strengthen community involvement in Health Service Delivery.
SC 3 Ability to work with other health professionals and organizations.
SC 4 Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary practice and role modelling behaviour.
SC 5 Ability to work, related and clearly communicate using diverse styles of communication methods.
SC 6 Demonstrated competency in use of Business technology and desktop applications, internet, word, spreadsheet, and database packages.
