About Our Organization
The Mareeba Children and Family Center is committed to improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in their early years. We provide access to integrated early childhood education and care, parenting and family support, and child and maternal health services. Our center is a welcoming space for families, dedicated to ensuring they receive the support they need. We also provide outreach services to Kuranda, Dimbulah and Chillagoe.
As part of our mission, we aim to connect with local families, enhancing their access to essential services while creating a comforting environment for children and their families.
Position Overview
The Early Childhood Worker will collaborate with the Children and Family Center Coordinator and a multidisciplinary team to develop, deliver, and evaluate a range of culturally sensitive early intervention programs. This role requires a commitment to child-centered practices that promote the holistic development of young children.
The successful candidate will be accountable for providing safe, stimulating programs that cater to children's individual needs and promoting the value of play within the community.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of relevant qualifications, experience, and personal attributes that align with our organizational goals.
- Qualifications - minimum Cert III in Early Childhood.
- Experience in providing early childhood support programs.
- Strong understanding of early childhood development and the principles of integrated service delivery.
- Proficient interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Drivers Licence / Working with Children Blue Card / Australian National Police Check (ability to obtain prior to start)
The candidate should be dedicated to continuous learning and improvement, demonstrating the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Selection Criteria
SC 1 Demonstrated experience working in an interagency environment and demonstrated ability to develop and foster relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders including community groups, government, and non-profit service providers.
SC 2 Experience working with Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander children, families, and communities.
SC 3 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) to work in a multi-disciplinary team structure, including the ability to organize and coordinate group activities.
SC 4 Knowledge of, or ability to acquire, human resource management issues including Workplace Health and Safety, Equal Employment Opportunity and Antidiscrimination.
SC 5 Knowledge and understanding of integrated service delivery to enhance the health, education and wellbeing of children and their families.
SC6 Demonstrated experience in the delivery of early childhood services and programs to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.
