Position Overview

As a General Practice Social Worker at Mulungu, you will play a crucial role in providing support within the GP Clinic, focusing on areas such as aging, disability, mental health challenges, and grief and loss. You will be responsible for delivering evidence-based social work interventions, conducting psychosocial assessments, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care for our patients.

Your expertise will contribute to the development of community resources and support systems, while your commitment to quality improvement will help enhance patient outcomes in our clinic.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking a qualified Social Worker who embodies our values and is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

  • Possess a degree in Social Work recognized by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Demonstrate experience in a medical or allied health setting, with a focus on mental health.
  • Have proven experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, showcasing cultural competency.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups.
  • Show an understanding of quality improvement processes and relevant human resource management practices.
  • Blue Card and current National Police Check (within the last 6 months) or the ability to obtain.

As a candidate, you will uphold the AASW Social Work Code of Ethics and Practice Standards while engaging in ongoing professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Selection Criteria

SC 1        Hold a Social Work degree recognised by the Australian Association of Social Workers its equivalent.

SC 2       Demonstrated ability to work as an independent practitioner making advanced clinical decisions within a multidisciplinary team with the ability   to practice a range of interventions with patients as         referred by GPs and other practice staff.

SC 3       Experience working with Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander people and demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander     culture and their health needs.

SC 4        Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team structure.

SC 5        Knowledge of and commitment to the principles of continuous quality improvement and integrated risk management.

SC 6        Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety legislation and the Equal Employment Opportunity and Antidiscrimination Acts.
