About Mulungu Aboriginal Corporation

Mulungu Aboriginal Corporation Primary Health Care Service is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation dedicated to enhancing the health outcomes and overall wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Our mission is to provide life-changing primary health care through a cohesive delivery of health, social, and corporate services.

Located in Mareeba and surrounding areas, we strive to support families in building safety and wellness within their units, making a significant impact on the communities we serve.

Position Overview

The Family Development Officer is integral to the Family Care Service, responsible for managing a caseload of families and delivering interventions aligned with approved case management protocols. This role focuses on enhancing the capacity of families to maintain a safe home environment for their children, offering culturally relevant support to Indigenous clients facing complex social and emotional challenges.

You will collaborate closely with clients to set and achieve personal goals, facilitate action plans, and maintain strong relationships with community resources and service providers to ensure holistic support.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, coupled with a strong commitment to improving the lives of families in our community.

  • Possess relevant qualifications in health, welfare, or social services.
  • Demonstrate experience working with Indigenous communities and advocating for their needs.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build rapport and trust.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated capacity to produce reports, case records and accurate client information and data.
  • Blue Card / Federal Police Check / Qld Drivers Licence (Ability to obtain prior to commencement)

Your ability to navigate complex issues and implement effective case management strategies will be essential in delivering meaningful support and fostering positive outcomes for clients.
